Seagoing Geophysical Engineers

We are currently recruiting seagoing engineers (Underwater Engineers) for our Geo-Engineering department to support the hydrographic and geophysical survey teams. You will be responsible for deploying, recovering, maintaining, repairing and replacing equipment and parts as required. You MUST have strong Electronics experience and/or qualifications.

Job Description

Candidates will have previous experience of, and/or qualification in an electronics role or subject. You will be required to operate and maintain and repair as necessary the underwater sonar and data acquisition equipment on board our survey vessels around the world. This is a seagoing role, so experience of working at sea on vessels will be advantageous, but not essential.

You will be required to work as part of a versatile team providing, through the proper deployment and operation of the equipment, quality data for interpretation on board and ashore. Reporting in to the Engineer In Charge (EIC) and Party Chief, your team will work shifts around the clock to maintain a constant service.

The person will be adaptable, positive and able to work under pressure and tight deadlines. They will need to be a strong team person and be able to respond to instructions and contribute to problem solving.

You will be expected to work at sea for a minimum of 180 days per calendar year in flexible rotations of either 4,6 or 8 weeks. You may be posted anywhere in the world where Gardline vessels operate on a variety of projects for a variety of companies.

Salary and allowances will be based on experience and technical competencies.

Candidates should be eligible to work in the UK and EU and have the appropriate visas and permits. You will also be required to pass an MCA approved ENG-1 Medical and STCW95 Survival Course upon joining us. You will also complete a training course of ¾ weeks upon joining based in Great Yarmouth.
