Gardline Marine Sciences Ireland Limited is pleased to announce the acquisition of IMAR Survey Limited.
Founded in 2002, following work conducted by senior staff for the Irish National Seabed Survey, IMAR has established a reputation for quality and reliability in Ireland’s rapidly developing geophysical and hydrographic survey business. Currently based in Conamara, County Galway the company specialises in inshore surveys both in Ireland and the Middle East. Recent successful contracts include work for the Irish Marine Institute under the INFOMAR project, work for Oriel Wind Farms in Dundalk Bay, harbour development, dredging and site investigations. IMAR Survey is also carrying out a major hydrographic and oceanographic study in Messaieed Port, Qatar.
“IMAR’s future is now extremely positive”, comments Mick Geoghegan, Managing Director of IMAR Survey, “with Gardline’s support and backing, our aims will be to consolidate our existing business and to further develop our capabilities in the offshore site investigation and cable markets. We are delighted to join the successful Gardline Marine Sciences Group and look forward to working with our new sister companies”.
Another exciting opportunity to emerge following the acquisition is the development of a training school, an aspiration of both Mick and IMAR’s chairman Brian Geoghegan. IMAR, in collaboration with Gardline, has already started to roll out its plans to open the Training Centre in Rossaveal, County Galway later this year - the first term of programmes are scheduled to start in September. The courses, most of which will be residential, will focus on areas such as company induction, technical, safety and broader management skills. The intention is to offer training opportunities to both new recruits as well as existing employees.
Mark Browning, Gardline Marine Sciences HR Manager, believes this new training centre represents further investment in the company’s future and those of its employees around the world.
Gardline Marine Sciences Ireland is part of the Gardline Marine Sciences Group. The company has offices in the UK, USA, Australia and South East Asia and the recent purchase of IMAR Survey Ltd. will enable its European operations to expand even further.
