Gardline Environmental Limited’s (GEL) Coastal Service Division, a dedicated vessel service provider for the renewables sector, has been awarded four wind farm support contracts by Visser and Smit Marine Contracting (VSMC) – a company specialising in subsea cable installation for the power and renewables industry.
The work, which involves various duties, including crew and equipment transfers, will commence at the end of June and continue through to the end of 2010 - VSMC is currently laying a number of subsea cables off the UK’s West Coast for the Walney 1 & 2 and Ormonde Offshore Windfarms
GEL’s recently purchased aluminium catamaran, The Gardian will undertake the initial project which is located in Heysham, Lancashire.
At 21.5 metres in length, the Gardian is a multi-purpose vessel ideally suited for crew turbine transfers as well as providing a platform for marine mammal and bird surveys including mitigation work, all of which are essential during the construction of offshore wind farms.
GEL is also pleased to announce plans to expand its fleet of aluminium catamarans with an additional three vessels joining the Gardian throughout the summer and autumn months.
