Gardline Geosciences Services

Gardline Geosciences is the marine geotechnical arm of the Gardline Marine Sciences Group and offers worldwide geotechnics, geotechnical consultancy and services ranging from near shore down to 3000m ocean depths. Gardline Geosciences incorporates the wealth of geotechnical experience residing in sister-company Lankelma.

CONE PENETRATION TESTING

As an established player in the worldwide marine geotechnical market, Gardline Geosciences operates a varied pool of 16 CPT units, each designed for a specific application and tests of up to 50 metres can be performed.

OFFSHORE HEAVE COMPENSATED DRILLING, SAMPLING & TESTING

Gardline Geosciences operates two drilling rigs which incorporate 3m heave compensation. These use standard API steel drill pipe and have the capability to drill to 400m. The downhole Cone Penetration Test (CPT) and sampling systems perform insitu CPT tests with a 3m stroke. Data is viewed in real time as the borehole is advanced. The drilling system incorporates a dedicated offshore soil and rock laboratory package enabling the processing and testing of samples in real time. The drilling system incorporates a coring facility enabling coring of soil and rock.

SEABED SAMPLING

As an established player in the worldwide marine geotechnical market, Gardline Geosciences operates the Lankelma developed Deep Water Sampler, enabling very high quality 10m samples to be taken and is currently developing a 20m system. Specialist vibrocorers are designed and built in-house to maximise sample recovery in deep water soft soils and, as with the High Power Vibrocorers, to achieve maximum results in denser sands and gravels in shallower waters. They are hence recognised industry leading tools in the marine aggregate market.
Piston coring is provided in all water depths with enhanced deep penetration and recovery supplied by a range of jumbo corers with a proven record of 30m recovery in soft soils.
Box corers are available to sample surface soils with minimal disturbance and a range of hydraulic clamshell grabs obtain bulk samples to 300 litres.
